I’m from Austin, Texas. I’ll be graduating from Smith College in 2013 with a bachelors in history. I also like taking classes in English, art, and music.
I’m interested in writing– fiction, nonfiction, and journalism.
I tutor middle school and high school students in academic writing.
Here’s what I’ve been up to recently:
January: Returned to Smith to complete my junior year
May: Visited South Korea for nine days, and traveled back to Japan for two weeks
June through August: Interned at the Texas Tribune
September: Returned to Smith College to complete my senior year. Began an archives internship at the Sophia Smith Collection. Started volunteering at the International Language Institute in Northampton, MA, tutoring non-native speakers in English.
May: Completed internship at the Smith Alumnae Quarterly
June: Explored China for three weeks, visiting Beijing, Xi’an, and Yunnan province
September: Studied abroad in Galway, Ireland for a little over three months
Traveled all over Western Ireland. Visited Paris, Amsterdam, and Scotland
June: Spent two weeks traveling in Japan
July and August: Worked as the museum education intern at the Texas Natural Science Center
September: Began sophomore year at Smith College
September – December: Worked as the editorial intern for the Smith Alumnae Quarterly
March 2008: Introductory work experience at the Harry Ransom Center in preservation, conservation, and archives departments
May 2008: Graduated from the Austin Waldorf School. Deferred college enrollment for one year
September 2008: Began tutoring middle school and high school students in academic writing, which I have continued since then
September 2008 – April 2009: Volunteered at the Harry Ransom Center in the preservation department
May 2009: With saved funds earned during the previous eight months, departed for a month-long trip to Europe. Visited Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland, and Ireland
September 2009: Moved to Northampton, Massahusetts to attend Smith College
